Mary Ellen Hostak has worked as an entertainer for corporate events, industrials, advertising campaigns, schools, libraries and birthday parties as an actress, costumed character, face painter, tattoo artist, puppeteer, stilt walker and singer. For the last 20 years, she has also performed in her own productions for children of The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, A Dragon In The Castle and a variety of Musical Shows. Her costumed characters include Cinderella, Dorothy, Madeline, a Fairy Princess, a Polka Dot Clown, a Cowgirl, a Pirate, and a Wizard.

Working as an actress since 1980, Ms. Hostak has performed a wide variety of roles from Viola in Twelfth Night to Morgan La Fay in King Arthur and the Magic of Merlin. As a puppeteer, she has toured the Midwest and the South and Southwest in such shows as The Magical Tales of Hans Christian Anderson, Gulliver's Travels, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Five Chinese Brothers, Aesop's Fables, and The Jungle Book.

Ms. Hostak has a B.A. in Theater and has also studied Commedia dell'arte with the renowned Commedia teachers: Mario Gonzalez and Rafael Bianciotto and is a member of The New York Mask and Clown Workshop. Her acting training has been with Larry Silverberg (Meisner teacher and author of 4 books on Meisner training) and Carol Rosenfeld. Ms. Hostak also studied Shakespeare extensively with Rosey Hay (former assistant director to Trevor Nunn at the Royal Shakespeare Company). Through the Henry Street Settlement and Arts Partners she has taught classes in art and theater and directed students in productions of Where The Wild Things Are, The Anansi Tales, and several Native American Tales. Ms Hostak  perform ed in "The Prodigal", “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “The Tempest” at La Plaza Cultural, as part of The Garden Theater Festival. She is also a permanent member of New York Lyric Circus with roles in Jack and the Beanstalk, Mixed Up Mother Goose, Medieval Times, and A Day at the Circus.
